I finally got those letter-writers some stuff so they can start writing good/bad/whatever recommendations. Frankly they just have to say something better than horrible...I don't really care. After getting that off my chest, I feel relieved. Now on to those real applications! Fall break = application start time. I'm going to be spending quite a bit of money too...damn score-sending fees, application fees, etc.
So yesterday at lab I basically accomplished nothing despite being there for like 6 hours. That is because I am too stupid to follow directions and I was, at that time, too distracted by studying for that test, which I think I did alright on (I definitely passed woot). Basically I messed up making minimal media + uracil plates twice. The first time I put 1000x the amount of uracil I needed, so it obviously wasn't dissolving. The second time I allowed the gel to cool too much so it hardened before I poured the plates. Hence I get to do it again today! I better get it right or I'll have to make more 5xM9 salts too...
Despite everything, I'm kind of happy to go back to doing experiments like stop-flow. I don't like molecular biology and it doesn't like me either. Though I hope the experiment isn't bitchy and I can stop having that weird "steady state" thingy going on. Or something.
Wish me luck on my biophys test this morning!
