It finally happened! Marin broke into the top 100 in the men's rankings, now at 98! Yay, I am so proud of him. He's been consistently qualifying for tournaments and getting a few matches... Soon he won't have to spend so much energy qualifying! Yayayay!
I'm sad for Vania, though, because she's cutting her season off a bit early because of her back injury. She was doing well in Bangkok too... Well, she's fallen out of the top 100 in singles but she's been doing well in doubles...best of luck to her recovery.
Elena Dementieva won the final of the Kremlin Cup against Serena Williams yesterday. Good for her. Too bad Sveta didn't continue her awesomeness against Serena and lost to her in the semis... Oh well, what can you do.
There's nice tennis on this week (just not on TV, unfortunately). Madrid for the men and Zurich for the women. Mario is in Madrid and could meet James Blake in round 2. Sveta and Ana are part of the awesome field in Zurich. I guess too bad for Maria Sharapova, since she's out with injury again. This is really a tough year for her fans...thankfully I'm not one. I mean, it's been quite sad waiting for Mario to come back, so I didn't need to wait for anyone else.
Lindsay Davenport update: she's ranked 123. She's going to be seeded for the Australian Open next year, I hope!
